Building Rapport

Building Rapport

How to Build Rapport with a prospective customer

Building rapport involves buildiing a relationship where ‘Know, Like and Trust' are augmented by ‘Respect'.
Many marketer's believe, the key to making the sale is to get the customer to “like them”, and that the way to getting the customer to like them, is to build rapport.

The Myth About Building Rapport!

  • Always treating the customer politely and in a friendly manner
  • Informal chat, perhaps share a joke or story
  • Ask about the kids (after checking the customers Facebook Profile)
In fact, these behaviours have nothing to do with building rapport, it is just small talk, the passage of time!

Six Steps to Building Rapport:

  1. Get in the zone – create a bubble in which no one else matters, just you and the customer.
  2. Write things down – listen for things you may have missed before. Observe and note anxiety in the customer, any confusion or concerns.
  3. Know your product or service and use that knowledge to bring your product to life. Just enough to trigger interest and curiosity.
  4. Do not demonstrate your ‘genius’ abilities by providing reams of information, instead focus on bringing your product to life, in a way which solves the customer's problem.
  5. Embrace all the customer’s wants, needs and concerns, which you learned in your discussion!
  6. Explain how your product or service will resolve those issues. To gain respect, you must convince your customer you can and will solve their major problems.
Rapport comes from building dialogue, trust and clarity around the customer's needs, and offering a real solution.

Network Marketing – What is it!

Network Marketing – What is it!

Recently I received a query, from a follower who asked me, What is Network Marketing!

This individual was confused,

Automobile Marketing would obviously be about selling cars and trucks!

Do Network Marketers sell NETWORKS!

Perhaps the definition from Investopedia will explain …

DEFINITION of ‘Network Marketing'

A sales strategy in which a salesperson attends meetings of organizations whose members are likely to be interested in a particular product or service in order to develop a book of business.

The three major components of network marketing involve prospecting (finding sources of potential customers), following up with inquiries from interested parties, and selling the good or service to the prospect.

Once prospects are cultivated, the salesperson will try to use his or her relationships with the prospect to get in contact with other individuals that the prospect might know.

Well … NO … We have a problem here!

The following definition is closer to the TRUTH …

Definition: A business model in which a distributor network is needed to build the business. Usually such businesses are also multilevel marketing in nature in that payouts occur at more than one level. .

Network marketing is a type of business opportunity that is very popular with people looking for part-time, flexible businesses.

Some of the best-known companies in America, including Avon, Mary Kay Cosmetics and Tupperware, fall under the network marketing umbrella.

Network marketing programs feature a low upfront investment — usually only a few hundred dollars for the purchase of a product sample kit — and the opportunity to sell a product line directly to friend, family and other personal contacts.

Most network marketing programs also ask participants to recruit other sales representatives. The recruits constitute a rep's “downline,” and their sales generate income for those above them in the program.

It is no wonder my follower was confused … the term Network Marketing is not consistently used to describe the same thing!

Eric Worre is a respected leader who has spearheaded a campaign to professionalize the Network Marketing industry … he describes Network Marketing as ….

Consider this video from 2012 … much of what is discussed still holds true

What are Your Rules

What are your Rules

What Are YOUR Rules (And Why You Need Them If You Don’t Have Them!)

Here are a few examples of Diane Hochman’s own rules …

  1. Only works with people who deserve it, not who need it.
  2. When she’s working with people, she has places people can contact her. She’s exceptionally available, but she doesn’t allow people to contact her one-on-one personally.
  3. There is no putting people down. Anyone who is putting her or her people down is out. If they are rude, or diminishing of others, she eliminates them.
  4. When it’s family time there’s no screens unless they’re spending time together watching a movie or show.

Now it’s time to come up with some of your own rules!  Because learning to manage yourself and others is where the money lies.
